It is ILLEGAL to read other people's emails only but pms I am not so sure about. It is the sure sign of dishonesty though, and I reckon if David Icke had a brain he might decide to do away with that forum.

Snail mail, wire tapping and other surveillance requires a court order in the US. There must be considerable reasonable suspicion or proofs of other natures to warrant it.

I don't know what laws concern private e mails - perhaps the same?

I think it would be good to know how illegal Sean's activities have been, and how much the remaining moderators are at threat of prosecution because of it.

The sentiment "If Sean did that then they must have done something wrong" is pure fascism.
People who get into that logic can carry out all kinds of inhuman stuff at somene else's whim, and I'm allready a target, so don't expect me to try to appease that one way propaganda machine, and change my behaviour to look like less of a 'threat.'

PMS and ANYTHING related to that particular site (DI in this instance) is a privately owned entity. They can essentially read all your email (if you had email routing through a DI address of some sort)PMs, etc.

Quite frankly I have always assumed my shit is read everywhere (better to be over cautious) and this is not the first time I went through something like this.

The online Game EQ2 (operated and owned by Sony Online Entertainment) had one of the craziest situations ever regarding a PM being read and there is no recourse.

The website EQ2Flames was a hardcore raiding website NOT owned by Sony but by a fan named LFG- This site was set up purly to get away from over moderation and heavy censorship on the official board- Eventually, even the developers (some of them) followed us over... Well, one of the SOE developers, a cheating peace of shit named Aerilik was using the Flames PM system to give inside information to his guild- I mean stuff regarding exploits and pure cheating and with statements like "hurry up and do this because we are fixing the issue on Monday"

LFG released all the PMs- SOE tried to stop him and could not...Those PMs were HIS property..

In this example, it was a good thing. SOE had been caught having their developers cheat less than six months before this happened and we all knew this was going on but had no proof... LFG got us proof.

Anyhow it was a huge online gaming scandal and LFG is a Lawyer and although SOE threatened, their only recourse was to try to ban everyone who was a regular at Flames and sweep it under the rug.

-Many of us quit the game over this )me included) since a competitive game that you pay a FEE to play should NOT have developers cheating and the referee (SOE in this case) hiding it.

BUT....This has been gone over BIG time and there is nothing you can do. The owner of the site may do as he pleases with the info on that site (even private)

Just a question of "Is it right?"

The only way I would consider reading a PM (and that's only considering) was in relationship to a serious crime, of which there would have to be serious proof of it having occurred first. Even then I'm not sure that I would, although I would recognise the reason for someone doing so.

Thats one case example and its not quite as clear cut as that. It depends where the sever/s are located. For example in France reading peoples PM's on your site is illegal.
